This little gem is perfect for those who can't run a blender's sculpting mode because of how strenuous it can be on slower systems, Sculptris is by Pixologic and is a creativity tool to get into digitial sculpting and CG, where you'll eventually want to go into ZBrush or back to Blender (or a workflow of the two, like myself) for more advanced things.

Sculptris may also serve as a way to create a basic mesh to then later be imported into Zbrush via the GoZ plugin for sculptris.

You can download sculptris free and find more information on the website at : http://pixologic.com/sculptris/

    System Requirements
    OS: Windows XP SP2/Vista/Seven/Win8/8.1
Processor: 1Ghz pentium 4 and above (or compatible)
    Memory: 1GB of RAM
Graphic Card: ATI or Nvidia card with openGL 2.0 support

they also reconmend to use a Wacom or compatible graphics tablet, because having access to pressure sensitivity is amazing to have for this program!

(Program is also compatible with OSX 10.5/10.6 With similar requirements)

Sculptris is a fun piece of software, especially given that it's free. I made this with it like a year or so ago - [IMG]

You could easily modify that sculpt into an avatar for facerig :)

I could modify it into an avatar for facerig, I would not say that I could do it easily. The initial sculpt is like, maybe 10% of the total work; it just also happens to be one of the prettier stages.

Pretty much. i'm banging my head against the wall right now because i have to retopologize the nightfury model by hand. for better mesh quality.

I use Sculptris to sculpt various characters and creatures for my stories and game designs. I have however found that I stink at doing hair or clothes in it... But faces are, to quote the popular saying, "easy as pie". I just wish it could be used to rig them as well, but lacking ZBrush to export them to I don't even know how I can open them in anything that can.
Here are some examples of the types of things I have done in it.

This one includes the base head model you can use as a starting point.

Just use the Export OBJ Button in Sculptris then take them over to a more proper modeling suite.

Sorry for taking so long to reply. That is good to know. Back when I was using Sculptris a lot I didn't have Blender so it didn't do me any good, then more recently I got Blender but forgot all about that export option. ><
