This product is $75 @Mihai Preda I figured you of all people might enjoy checking this out. This is an advanced coloring tool for 3D modules, and allows for an amazing looking character(s). As of now, it's %50 off on steam due to the early release of it.

I'm no 3D modeler, but I can say the video makes this look like it's worth the money. If you are getting into 3D modeling, and want an advanced physical look of your characters, I recommend at least checking out the video.

Demo/Trial version can be download at their website: http://www.allegorithmic.com/

To get the full power/potential out of the painter, you would need the Creator program from them as well, but it is a really nice and easy to use program.

For both. Im unmature and unemployed, and I cant afford it. Even giving these 10$ for facerig was my monthly income.

Thank you Xyphien, I've seen the announcement several days ago and even discussed with my collegues about it. I plan to check it out.

In general I'm pretty interested in what's new in the industry and I'm trying to keep up to date, but from this to actually introduce something in the workflow is quite a distance. This is for several reasons but one of the most important is that we already have a workflow that is complex and adding to the complexity doesn't make it necessary more efficient, it can even make things harder to produce. I think it's better to master several programs and methods then to know a little from too much of them. Belive it or not we have around 10-11 programs in our workflow and at this point I don't intend to add even more. I try to substitute something if it seems better at solving a job, not to produce redundancy.

Makes since, was just seeing if this would be something you were interested in, as well as anyone else who is planning on making 3D modules :) Saw it on steam and figured to share it. I was unaware you had, or that there were even that many programs out there for 3D modeling, as well as coloring.

There is a lot of programs but i cant think of a workflow that would need 10-11 programs, i can think of around 6-8 to make practically everything. @Mihai Preda would be interested to know which programs you use.

We are using Maya for NURBS modeling, rigging and animation, 3dsmax for lowpoly and procedural modeling, hair system and as a host for Havok and Rayfire/PhysX simulations.
    Marvelous Designer for cloth simulations.
ZBrush for high resolution sculpting and 3D painting.
    Unfold3D for uv mapping.
Crazy Bump for fast texture sets.
Three custom tools Funlabs proprietary software: a 3D editor, a shader editor and an fx editor.
These tools fine tune the assets and prepare them for the real time engine.
Photoshop for artwork and texture editing.
    Optitrack Arena for motion capture.
Maxscript, Lua and Python as scripting language for lots of custom tools made by the technical artists.
Actually, our artists work with some other software too, but this is because until Facerig we were involved in other kind of projects needing that kind of expertise.

I had gotten Painter a while ago... had heard about it, and soon fell in love with it. Haven't gotten used to all the features as of yet, but I've been able to make some spiffy things with it rather quickly. Still getting used to it and designer, however....

I've been noodling with Substance Painter and Designer for the last few weeks, working my way through the tutorials. They are such fantastic tools, I can see them becoming industry standards in a very short amount of time. The PBR workflow that Painter is tailored toward makes preparing textures for Facerig require some mental recalibration though.

It's not a casual purchase, no! But really, that's what, the cost of two or three xbox/ps4/wii games? If it's a tool you need to use, it's worth saving up for. :D
