The general community as of now uses Blender, and I've yet to come across anyone using any other program until now, which is why it's the only section currently. That is why I've added this section, you can post 3ds, max maya, ect. in this section. If enough people begin to post about them, then I'll add another section for it.

In my college days I was able to get 3dsmax for free (don't remember what version, its on my desktop at home) and all I ever used it for was to convert files. The first 3d modeling software I used was an early version of 3ds and I got really comfortable with its UI but was limited by the price of updates. I switched to blender back when 2.4x was new and it took a wile for me to get used to it. The 2.5+ versions have a friendlier UI and you can't beat the price lol

My software workflow up to this point has been:

    Zbrush (sculpt, retopo)
Silo (more retopo, UV layout, creation of base meshes for Zbrush sculpting)
    Substance Painter + Photoshop (texturing)
    Maya (rigging, animating, DAE export)

It might be about time for me to learn Blender, though. After I finish the current round of avatars I'm working on, I probably will. And once I get a better handle on Substance Painter, I'd like to see if I can forego using Photoshop entirely.
